The Grinder

Within the financial glacier that has been settling into most of the Southern European cities the aging building stock of devalued downtown sectors evolves into the primary terrain of architectural intervention. As the incessant sound of the power drill clutters the idleness of a Mediterranean summer afternoon, small scale refurbishment projects pop up in numbers: resurfacing, reconfiguring, and revamping the available urban property in a couple of days. The Grinder tells the story, as one of many constructors anonymous of a small ‘design and build’ project, located in Salonika, Greece.
